Andagua is not just a town nestled in the mountains. It is the only place in Peru where volcanoes lie dormant in a row, and yet we continue to treat it as if it were just any ordinary place.

In the Andagua Valley, Castile, approximately,   More than 70 volcanic cones are lined up as if someone had arranged them. There is no other landscape like it in South America. For science, it is a living laboratory. For the world, it is a potential geotourism destination. For us, it remains a background landscape that we glance at in passing.

The annual meeting of the 4GEON project, held in the Colca and Andagua Volcanoes UNESCO Global Geopark, brought together representatives from four continents and facilitated the exchange of experiences with students and authorities from the districts of Sibayo, Huambo, Chachas, Andagua, Chilcaymarca, and Ayo. This gathering strengthened the commitment to geoeducation, promoting youth leadership and the conservation of geological heritage, while fostering a sense of belonging and international collaboration.
